I once bought a book off the dollar rack at a book store. Later I looked at the price and it had been marked up from 29 cents.

Ace also produced doubles in many other genres. Kyle Hollingshead, who owned a used bookstore in Lubbock for many years, wrote a series of 10 western novels in the 70s. All were published as Ace Doubles, always with a work by a different author on the flip side.

My teenage library was full of Ace Doubles.
Mine too. I remember one with some sort of life sucking things called virals in one of them. Strikes me now as cyberpunk before cyberpunk was a thing.

My favorite Ace Double was “The Ballad of Beta 2” back to back with “Empire Star”.

Favorite used bookstore find was a 1960s Braille edition of Playboy, about 12x18 inches. It was a republication by the Government Printing Office under an accessibility program.
