Ebola: The Real Reason Everyone Should Panic

The headline may sound like more fear-mongering, but the message is not, “Close the borders and go into panic mode,” like we hear on American media.

The reason we should be scared is the piss-poor, close the barn doors after the horses run off job the developed nations are doing in West Africa.

It’s 2014.

We have one chance to stop this awful disease in its tracks, this year.

In 2015, that option will be gone.

Mass media is too busy generating the wrong panic — the infinitesimal chances of Ebola in the US now, rather than how to roll it back it in West Africa.

The UN is reduced to begging and being ignored.

Much of what it says Obama also said during his talk at the CDC a while ago. Although he said we need to do it now (as in 2-3 weeks ago), people in West Africa say the ebola virus has been a problem there for months, and the developed world was largely ignoring it because Africa. Now that non-Africans are falling ill and dying, Western governments have suddenly woken up to the danger of ebola.

It’s like the old joke about getting a mule’s attention by hitting it in the head with a 2x4. The West is the mule, and ebola is the 2x4.

In a connected world, where travel is relatively easy and affordable, what affects one part of the world can affect all parts of the world, given enough time and complaisance.

This isn’t just a problem with ebola. It’s the combination of ignorance and apathy (not to mention the contempt for their “lessers”) in our government that’s the threat to America. You see the same thing with climate change and the economy- all problems that can be handled or mitigated today, but they’re just going to be ignored.

Like you say, ebola’s been killing people for months, before it made its (inevitable) way here. If America had taken steps and offered assistance, it might never have reached this point.

PANIC? This is the goal of the Ayn Rand Whackos. Much easier to have their own little fiefdoms if there is no global conspiracy to tax and control them.
